Macron Pledges Full Support to Tinubu as Nigeria Battles Rising Terror Threat
French President Emmanuel Macron has pledged France’s full support to President Bola Tinubu as Nigeria confronts a surge in terrorist activities across several regions of the country.
The assurance reportedly came during renewed high-level diplomatic engagements between both leaders, amid growing concerns over escalating attacks carried out by jihadist groups, bandits, and separatist militants. Nigeria has witnessed a recent uptick in violent incidents, including kidnappings, targeted assassinations, and assaults on rural communities, prompting calls for strengthened international cooperation.
According to diplomatic sources, President Macron expressed France’s readiness to enhance security collaboration with Nigeria through intelligence sharing, counter-terrorism training, and improved regional coordination within West and Central Africa. President Tinubu reportedly welcomed Macron’s commitment, noting that Nigeria is currently recalibrating its security strategy to deal with both domestic and cross-border threats.
