Former MFM Member Writes President Trump, Alleges Dr Olukoya Runs Church “Like a Mafia,” Calls For US Probe
A former member of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has reportedly written to United States President Donald Trump, alleging that the church’s General Overseer, Dr. Daniel Olukoya, operates the ministry “like a mafia organization.” The petitioner called for an urgent U.S. government investigation into MFM’s activities both in Nigeria and abroad.
According to excerpts of the letter made available to journalists on Monday, the ex-member, whose name was withheld for security reasons, accused Dr. Olukoya of presiding over what he described as “a network of fear, control, and manipulation,” claiming that former members who raised concerns were “intimidated, silenced, or spiritually blackmailed.”
The petition further alleged that several MFM branches in the United States engage in questionable financial practices, including the alleged diversion of funds meant for charity and missions. The petitioner urged President Trump and relevant U.S. agencies to “look into the church’s international financial dealings, spiritual abuse claims, and possible violations of religious and non-profit laws.”
“I am appealing to your administration, President Trump, to investigate Dr. Daniel Olukoya and the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries. This church has become a tool of oppression and psychological control under the guise of deliverance ministry,” the letter reportedly stated.
As of press time, MFM headquarters in Lagos had not issued an official response to the allegations. However, sources within the church dismissed the claims as “baseless and malicious,” maintaining that Dr. Olukoya runs “a global ministry of holiness, prayer, and deliverance known for transparency and integrity.”
The controversy adds to a series of growing criticisms surrounding some Nigerian megachurches’ international operations, amid increasing calls for oversight on religious organizations’ financial and administrative conduct abroad.
